Kokeshi Doll

Genuine Kokeshi Doll from Japan. These dolls are all hand made from Cherry or Mizuki trees, which is literally translated as the “water tree”. The wood is left outdoors for 1 to 5 years to season before it is used. Each doll is lovingly hand carved on a lathe.Traditionally painted with black and red paint, they have a sweet face classic design, eyes, nose, eyebrows and hair. Top of head is decoratively painted. Body paint worn off from being well loved. You can see the beautiful grain design in the wood.
