The before and after pictures of our beach house design proves with some paint and a little bit of tile you can transform a dark and dreary room into a light and airy retreat.
Our goal was to design a home that felt like a beach house. We had a lot of ideas about color and ultimately decided to use soft natural colors that mimicked the sea and sand.
For the trim, fireplace and mantel I used my trusty Sherwin-Williams Pure White SW 7005 which literally goes with everything. Next we painted Sherwin-Williams Canvas Tan SW 7531 on the walls.
We could have stopped here but decided to take it a little farther and gave this fireplace an elegant facelift. For around $100 we bought this gorgeous skyline marble subway tile and installed it just like you would a backsplash to the face of the brick. We tied the look together by using the same style floor tile that’s in kitchen and dining room, for the hearth of the fireplace. The floors were sanded down, stained and finished with a matte polyurethane.
